Jazmine was a Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Her mother Pam was a back-up singer with Philadelphia International Records. In Jive Records, she made an entire album. However, the album was never released. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded several tracks on her debut album, including the buzz single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
